Adding Widgets To Footers

One of Kadence’s greatest strengths is its flexibility, in this case it allows you to easily customize the footer to suit your needs. You have the freedom to incorporate elements such as social icons, an about section, disclaimers, a categories widget, an archives widget, a search widget, and more.

This option circumvents the use of Kadence Element Hooks, a feature exclusive to Kadence Pro users, making it an incredible creative workaround. Here we have two examples from our Podcast theme and Delicious theme:

Organizing Widgets & Footers

In the Appearance > Widgets, the Footers equate to Widgets in the customizer, so adding a specific design in Footer 1 in Appearance > Widgets can also mean Widget 1 in Appearance > Customizer > Footer. It makes sense to keep elements in sequential order, ie Footer 1 and Widget 1.

To create your designs, you can do them in Appearance > Customizer > Footer or Appearance > Widgets. Either way, you can add text, custom HTML, menus, social icons, etc. We prefer to work in Appearance > Widgets because it’s clearer to create designs. Once designed, head over to Appearance > Customizer > Footer to drag the widget into your row place setting.

Click Publish and check your website.

Since this is configured in your footer, it will appear on all posts and pages. This is where Kadence Element Hooks proves invaluable, as it allows you to disable the footer for specific posts and pages as needed.
