Copying & Pasting Kadence Blocks

Copying and pasting Kadence Blocks is quite simple and follows the same basic method as working with Gutenberg. Kadence Blocks free extends the basic editor in WordPress, and Kadence Pro extends your options even further with advanced block features.

Whichever you’re using, you can still copy and paste them using WordPress’s built-in functionality or using commands on your keyboard. Here’s how to get started:

Copying a Single Block:

Select the Kadence Block you want to copy by clicking on it. Once selected, you’ll see options in the toolbar that pops up near the block. Click on the three dots at the end (), this opens the “More Options” menu. From the drop-down menu, choose Copy, which is usually at the top. Our favorite is to use Ctrl + C / Cmd + C on the PC keyboard to copy it.

Pasting a Block:

Go to the area where you want to paste the block, then click on the spot in the editor where you want the block to be placed. Right-click on your PC mouse, then from the drop-down menu, choose Paste. Our favorite is to use Ctrl + V / Cmd + V on the PC keyboard to paste it.

Copying Multiple Blocks:

To copy multiple Kadence blocks at once, click and drag your mouse over the blocks you want to select, or click the first block, hold Shift, and click the last block to select all blocks in between. Once selected, use the Copy option from the toolbar; our favorite is to use Ctrl + C / Cmd + C on the PC keyboard.

Copying Block Styles Only:

If you only want to copy the styles (settings, design options) of a block without its content, select the block you want to copy using your PC mouse. Click the three dots () in the popup toolbar and choose Copy Styles. Select the block you want to apply the styles to, click the three dots again, and choose Paste Styles.

Using Patterns:

This is a super nifty feature if you want to use the same blocks across your website on different posts or pages. If you want to use the same Kadence Block across multiple pages or posts, you can save it as a Pattern, previously called a Reusable Block. First, select the Kadence Block you want to reuse, then click the three dots in the popup toolbar and choose Create a Pattern.

This will open up a dropdown menu, where you must select the ‘Create Pattern’. Add a name for your pattern that will quickly help you identify what the block is about. For instance, we use a Pattern on our themes called After Post, which is inserted at the end of a post.

Afterward, you can select default categories from the dropdown menu. You may need to create one or leave it blank if you don’t have any categories. Lastly, click the blue button to Sync or leave it as is if you prefer not to sync your content across your site.

The Sync button means that if you want to make changes to it, you will need to go to Appearance > Patterns, choose your pattern, make the changes, then save. This will change that pattern across your website.

NOTE: If some of these options are unavailable, you most likely do not have the Kadence Pro installed.
