Customizing the Kadence footer is similar to customizing the header. Kadence provides a flexible footer builder with drag-and-drop functionality, allowing you to easily design your footer to match your website’s look and feel. If you want to change or slightly customize your theme’s original footer, you have complete control over the layout, including colors, fonts, and other elements.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you customize the Kadence footer:
Open the Footer Customization Panel:
Look for the “Footer” option in the Customizer, then click on it to open the ‘Footer‘ customization settings. This will bring a drag-and-drop section to the focus at the bottom of the page.
Choose a Footer Layout:
Layout: Like the header, in the layout section, you can select from a range of footer layouts, including standard, centered, and split. There are three section bars, and each can be modified, such as the background color, sectioning each bar to full-width or splitting, multiple columns, a single row, or a combination of rows and what content you want added.
Drag & Drop: With Kadence’s intuitive drag-and-drop footer builder, you can effortlessly drag logos, menus, social icons, buttons, widgets, and search bars to various footer sections. You can also remove or rearrange these elements by dragging and dropping them into their positions.
Adjust the Footer Elements:
Text or HTML Blocks: Customize your footer by adding custom text, copyright information, or HTML code using these blocks. Simply click on the element to edit the content, adjust typography, and set the alignment.
Widget Areas: You can confidently add one or more widget areas to the footer by navigating to Appearance > Widgets and adding widgets to your designated footer areas.
Menu: To add a footer menu, drag the “Menu” element to the footer builder. Next, select the menu you want to display and customize its style, color, and alignment. You can also create and edit your menus from the “Menus” tab in the Customizer or directly from the “Appearance > Menus” section in the dashboard.
Social Icons: To add social icons, simply drag the “Social” element to the footer builder. Then, customize the icons’ style, color, and size, and link them to your social media profiles.
Button or Call to Action: Use the button element to add a call to action, such as a link to a contact page or a newsletter signup.
Styling The Footer:
Colors: You can change the background color, text color, link color, and hover effect for each footer element.
Typography: You can adjust the font family, size, weight, and other typography settings for different elements (site title, menu items, etc.).
Spacing and Padding: Adjust the spacing and padding to control the distance between footer elements and their positioning within the footer.
Configure Footer Scripts or Additional Content:
Footer Scripts: To incorporate custom scripts or code (e.g., Google Analytics, chat widgets), simply navigate to Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS/JavaScript or use a plugin to seamlessly integrate scripts into your footer.
Using Kadence Pro Features (If Available):
If you have Kadence Pro, you will have additional options:
Footer Copyright Toggle: Easily toggle the visibility of the copyright bar.
Dynamic Content: Use dynamic content options to display custom fields, user information, or date/time in your footer.
Sticky Footer: Make the footer sticky or fixed at the bottom of the page, this is handy for CTAs.
Preview and Publish:
When you’re ready to see how your changes look, use the live preview on the right side of the Customizer. Once you’re happy with the customization, click the “Publish” button at the top of the Customizer panel to save your changes.
Tips for Advanced Footer Customization:
Custom CSS: For more precise changes, simply add custom CSS by navigating to Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS.
Footer Templates: If you’re using Kadence Blocks Pro you can create a custom footer template in Appearance > Elements and assign it globally.
Footer Widget Plugins: You can use plugins for more specialized footer widgets, like social feeds or recent posts. However, we don’t recommend social feeds or any plugin related to recent posts because they cause bloat and performance issues.
How To Quickly Maneuver Around The Elements
To quickly modify an element in the customizer, hover over an element you want to change or design. Click the blue pencil popup, which will take you to the settings specific to that element.
