Cookie Notice Bar Plugin

Estimated reading: 3 minutes 72 views

A Cookie Notice Bar is a small banner typically displayed at the top or bottom of your website to inform visitors that the site uses cookies to enhance user experience, track analytics, or provide personalized services. It sometimes includes a brief explanation of the types of cookies used, a link to the site’s privacy policy or cookie policy, and options for the user to accept, manage, or decline the cookies.

This bar ensures compliance with privacy regulations, such as GDPR, by obtaining user consent for cookie usage before data collection begins.

What We Like About It

The style options available in the plugin settings allow you to customize the typography and colors of all the elements and even control details like borders, drop shadows, opacities, and more. With all these options, you can create a cookie notice consistent with your website’s style.

We use Lightweight Cookie Notice by DAEXT for all our websites because it’s simple, extremely lightweight, doesn’t bloat websites, has plenty of customization options, and is free forever unless you need the pro version that offers extras for different customer interactions.

It works out of the box with any theme and offers readers the option to accept, reject, and close.

The free version is sufficient for most websites; however, if you need different configurations, the pro version may be needed.

Cookie Notice Styling

While all these settings appear overwhelming, they aren’t. If you have a simple blog, we suggest changing the colors, typography, and, if needed, the consent message. The whole process takes no more than five minutes.

  • To start making the changes, open your Customizer > Colors & Fonts to check the typography and colors on your site.
  • Copy and paste the typography into the Cookie Notice settings. Change only the first font; the others are fallbacks.
  • Copy your primary color—usually this is the first color—then change the their blue colors for your primary in all tabs.
  • Save each tab before moving on to the next.
  • Change all the other colors if needed.
  • You can add your logo in the Cookie Settings tab. To find the URL, go to your media, find the logo you want to add, copy the URL, and paste it into the logo URL settings in the cookie settings tab.
  • To check your cookie bar, go to another browser. You may need to clear your PC and browser cache.
