If your comments section or comment form isn’t appearing on your posts, don’t worry — it’s usually just a quick settings adjustment. There are a couple of different places in WordPress where comment options can be turned on or off, both globally and individually for each post.

Let’s walk through the steps to get them showing again.

Step 1: Check Your WordPress Discussion Settings

  1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Settings → Discussion.
  2. Under Default post settings, make sure the option “Allow people to submit comments on new posts” is checked.
    • This ensures comments are enabled automatically for all future posts.
  3. Under Other comment settings, look for the box that says “Automatically close comments on posts older than X days.”
    • Uncheck this option if it’s enabled — it can stop comments from appearing on older posts even if they were originally open.

These settings control how comments behave across your entire site.

Step 2: Check Individual Post Settings

If only some of your posts are missing comments, those specific posts may have comments turned off manually.

To fix that:

  1. Go to Posts → All Posts in your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Hover over the post where comments are missing and click Quick Edit.
  3. Make sure the box labeled “Allow Comments” is checked.
  4. Click Update to save your changes.

Repeat this for any other posts where the comments aren’t showing.

All Fixed?

Once these settings are updated, visit one of your posts and refresh the page — your comment section should now be visible again.

💡 Tip: If you’re using a caching plugin, remember to clear your site cache after making these changes so they appear right away on the live site.
