How To Create Categories In Kadence

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 114 views

Categories are where your posts are assigned. When a category is properly set up, readers will enjoy the ease of navigating around your website.

Here is a category page of our Delicious theme:

Notice the other categories from the search option and the right sidebar with the menu? These are more categories for readers to navigate around your site easily.

Categories for your posts are very easy to set up; the theme you bought will already have some assigned. You can create them when you set up a regular post in the category section or by going to Posts > Categories.

On the left, create a category by adding a new name. Under the “parent category” drop-down, select the category you would like it to display under, this will create a subcategory. Then click Add New Category. Repeat for as many subcategories as you need.

You can create as many subcategories as you want and go as deep as you want to, but we highly recommend not going more than 3-4 levels. For example, All Recipes > Cuisines > American > Burgers. Burgers, for example, could be placed as a Tag to keep the subcategory levels low.

Each blog post must have a featured image set for images to display on the category archive pages.

To change the image size on the category archive pages, go to Appearance > Customize > Posts/Pages Layout > Archive Layout .

NOTE: If some of these options are unavailable, you most likely do not have the Kadence Pro installed.
