Adding A New User To Your Site

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 948 views

When we help support your site, we may need temporary access to your dashboard so we can dig into any issue you may have directly. Instead of sharing your main login, we recommend creating a brand-new user account for us — it’s safer and keeps your primary credentials private.

This same process works if you’d like to add new authors or team members to your site too.

Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.
  2. Go to Users > Add New.

You’ll then see a screen that looks like this:

add new user

When adding a new user, you’ll have two options for setting up their password. You can let WordPress send them an email invitation so they can create their own password, or you can set a password yourself and share it with them directly.

There are various roles, select the one which is most suitable, i.e. subscriber. However, when adding us, we will need full access so please ensure you select administrator. Here are our details to add:

  • Username is set to GlamsyDesigns
  • Use contact@glamsydesigns.com for the email address
  • Set the role is set to Administrator
