Setting Up An Established Website

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 748 views

To set up an established website using Kadence, the theme installation process is the same as it is for a brand-new site. We recommend importing the demo content on all sites—including existing ones—to get the full layout and design experience. When importing, make sure not to uncheck the “Import Content” option under Advanced Settings.

Rest assured, importing the demo content will not delete or overwrite your existing content. Once the demo is in place, you can simply delete any placeholder blog posts or pages you don’t need.

Other Preps To Consider

  • Ensure you update your website to the latest version of WordPress before installing your theme.
  • Update any installed plugins.
  • Backup your website before installing a theme, we recommend WP Staging Pro or a good hosting provider that allows you to do manual backups without having to install a plugin such as ScalaHosting.
  • Consider using a staging website to test and import. You can customize your staging while your live site is looking great. When everything is looking how you want it, push it to your live site. When you’re happy with everything, feel free to delete the staging.
  • The Kadence demo import process will only install plugins that are essential for your Glamsy Design theme to function properly. We suggest installing and activating the plugins BEFORE installing your theme.
  • Although we have detailed plugin recommendations for each theme, you can also head over to our resources for more great plugins and other essentials ideas.
