Installing An Instagram Plugin

Estimated reading: 3 minutes 76 views

Adding an Instagram feed to your website can bring several benefits, depending on your goals and audience. Instagram is a highly visual platform. By integrating your feed, you can display high-quality photos, videos, and stories directly on your website, which helps to grab visitors’ attention and enhance the visual appeal of your site.

Pros Having An Instagram Feed

One of the most significant benefits of having an Instagram Feed is when website visitors see your Instagram posts, they may be inclined to follow you, like, or comment on your content. This is said to increase engagement both on your website and on your Instagram account.

Showing an active Instagram feed with comments, likes, and followers serves as social proof. It helps build credibility and trust, making your brand appear more authentic and relatable.

Pros Not Having An Instagram Feed

Embedding Instagram plugins can significantly slow your site down because they add unnecessary JavaScript, slow down page speed, and negatively impact your website; hence, we seriously suggest that you consider these implications.

When readers visit your site, keeping them engaged is crucial, particularly if you’re operating a food blog. The primary objective of a food blog is to keep users on your own site instead of directing them to a third-party site.

Instagram Feed Plugin

None of our themes use an Instagram plugin. Instead, we use the widgets and blocks by default. Check out our Delicious theme for more details.

You might want to use a plugin because you’re using Kadence free or prefer to use a plugin.

As said, we do not recommend any Instagram plugin, but if you want to install one, then check out Smash Balloon Social Photo Feed. It’s one of the most popular Instagram feed plugins. It allows you to display Instagram posts in various layouts (grid, carousel, masonry) and even filter posts by hashtags.

The plugin is fully customizable in terms of colors, styles, and post-display options. A free version is available, and a premium version offers additional features like hashtag feeds, shoppable feeds, and more.

  • Go to Plugins > Add New to install the plugin.
  • In the search bar, type Smash Balloon Social Photo Feed.
  • Locate the plugin, click Install Now, and Activate it.
  • After activation, you should see a new menu item called Instagram Feed in your dashboard.
  • Go to Instagram Feed > Settings.
  • Click Connect an Instagram Account and log in to your Instagram account (personal or business).
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to grant permissions.
  • Once connected, configure the settings, such as feed layout, style, and display options.
  • Copy the default shortcode [instagram-feed].
  • If you’re using our themes, choose Appearance > Elements or Appearance > Widgets. Remove the predesigned Instagram template. Add the Instagram plugin shortcode, save, and publish.
  • If you’re not using our themes, paste this shortcode into any post, page, or widget where you want the Instagram feed to appear.
  • If you want to use a Gutenberg or Kadence block and add it to a page or past, search for the Instagram Feed, insert it, and customize it as needed.

NOTE: If some of these options are unavailable, you most likely do not have the Kadence Pro installed.
